  •

  • Comprehensive in-house training for IP RAN equipped end-users with the necessary skills to manage and operate the new system effectively.

Business Challenges and Objectives

The client required a comprehensive solution for their CISCO/Huawei-based IP RAN, covering design, build, deployment, and operations to act as the backbone for their applications. They asked the In2IT Team to ensure a migration timeline that included the planning, verification, and execution phases. Additionally, they needed operational support as required and wanted this process replicated across 71 cities in South Africa.

The In2IT Solution

The In2IT Team collaborated with the client and stakeholders to design, build, and deploy a CISCO/Huawei-based IP RAN solution. Our team of over 40 members ensured successful implementation and provided operational support around the clock.

The project was executed in two phases to ensure a smooth transition. In the first phase, the In2IT Team initially implemented and rolled out IP RAN, including the core router, at 14 locations. This established a solid foundation and allowed for addressing potential issues on a smaller scale.

In the second phase, the team expanded the IP RAN core network to all 300 locations across 71 cities in South Africa. This ensured that the entire network was interconnected and functioning optimally, meeting the client’s requirements for extensive geographic coverage. The phased approach allowed for meticulous planning, thorough testing, and gradual scaling, ensuring the project’s success and meeting the client’s needs.

Business Outcomes & Benefits

Effective migration planning ensured a smooth rollout to all 71 cities in South Africa in about seven months. The initial ramp-up phase was completed in less than three months, allowing the client to start using the updated system well ahead of the planned schedule. This rapid deployment minimized downtime and disruptions, ensuring the client’s operations continued seamlessly throughout the transition.

The team efficiently managed, monitored, and reported network performance using advanced NMS (Network Management Tools) tools. Their expertise was crucial in maintaining optimal network functionality and quickly addressing issues. Additionally, the team provided comprehensive in-house training for IP RAN, equipping the end-users from the client side with the necessary skills to manage and operate the new system effectively.

This thorough approach ensured the client could leverage the full capabilities of the updated network infrastructure, enhancing overall performance and reliability.
